Comitis Crisis Center, located on the edge of the Fitzsimmons campus, offers a variety of programs supporting families on their recovery journey—from trauma, mental health and substance use challenges, and housing instability.

Transitional family shelter
Three- to six-month short-term shelter for families including those receiving Colorado Works (TANF) through Arapahoe County
meals, hygiene items, and seasonal clothing available
• case management and financial literacy classes

Emergency family shelter
A nightly emergency shelter for families with children under 18 years old
• meals, hygiene items, and seasonal clothing available
• showers available
• referral services and case management


Transitional VA shelter
For veterans and their families as they gain self-sufficiency
• for single female veterans and male/female veterans with families
• meals, hygiene items, and seasonal clothing available
• case management and financial literacy classes

Opportunity for Recovery Unit and UCHealth
Serveing individuals in active recovery who require intensive daily treatment
wing of the shelter separated from the families
• for UCH patients recently released from medical care who need individualized support and are experiencing housing instability


Cold weather activation
• during cold weather activation the shelter is on a first-come, first-serve situation. No families will be turned away.
